There was a moment during this broadcast that perfectly illustrates the problem of systemic racism and white privilege – concepts that the host and the guest would deride. The guest says that we can with no authority say where we would stand on slavery were we to have lived in the U.S. during those days. Well, I can say with 100% certitude that any and all black Americans would have been against slavery with every fiber of their being were they to have lived in the U.S. prior to emancipation.
My point is that the guest, being a white man, has the privilege of never having to address his own question. He thinks he has no skin in the game being alive now so how could he know? But the notion that he can assume he is speaking to onlywhite people when he makes these type of statements on a Christian radio show is just too much. If this isn’t proof of a cancer in the church I don’t know what is. Instead of pushing a white supremacist pastor’s “wonderful” theology and life maybe it would behoove 21st century writing-pastor’s to look for non-white supremacist pastors and theologians to extole. Can’t find them? Well now we are getting to the real point. Let us do a show on that!
