I’ve been a listener to Iron Sharpens Iron with Chris Arnzen for about 10 years through various reboots of the show. This latest show out of Pennsylvania I listen to in podcast form as I’m working during the live show. I’ve been thinking something for several months and listening to the second hour interview with Dr. Phillips made me stop putting off commenting. ISI has always been informative and edifying because of the guests. However, I believe I have seen that over the last years it is clear that as Chris Arnzen has grown in understanding and ability to convey Biblical wisdom as well as knowledge of the broader Christian “scene” in the U.S. he has become not only a good, perceptive ask-er of questions but a very important part of the fuller discussion. He nimbly clarifies, steers the conversation back on course and fills in context and missing information when necessary. Even the finest pastors and theologians can use this during a live Q&A format. This episodes discussion of Salvation as the Bible teaches was wonderful. Dr. Phillips made many terrific points on this episode (I loved “I am not saved because I believed. I believed because I was saved.” I have never heard this brother speak before and want to hear more of what I presume is very frank, clear and compassionate preaching.) But Chris’s contribution to the discussion and its various trails was crucial to a wonderful hour of theological discussion. Now, maybe some listeners are there for the particular guest and would like more from them; I say leave ’em wanting more. We are getting very deep and/or broad discussions between two well-informed people and a dialogue with give and take is a much more enjoyable program. (And I have not been paid for this endorsement. ;^). Michael Rudnick, New Jersey
